Dental implants are one of the favorite tooth replacement treatments today.
The truth is that people lose their teeth for various reasons, including injury, disease, and age. Missing teeth can take a toll on an individual’s quality of life: in addition to making it difficult to eat and speak normally, missing teeth can change an individual’s appearance and lead to the deterioration of the jawbone. Fortunately, at D&R Dentistry, we have plenty of tooth replacement treatment options available, including dental implants.
What is it about?
A dental implant is a screw-like dental appliance that is implanted in your jawbone and functions as an artificial tooth root. It supports a metal abutment that connects to a permanent dental crown. The crown replicates the look, feel, and function of your natural teeth. This dental implant treatment is used to replace a single missing tooth or multiple missing teeth. As with any other dental procedure, a dental implant must be well cared for and cleaned regularly so that it can function correctly and last as long as possible.
Dental Implants: some benefits to highlight.
Dental implants are becoming more and more popular nowadays. They allow you to regain your confidence, smile, and enjoy eating the foods you love again. This is accomplished by restoring a natural-looking tooth that functions like an actual tooth. The benefits and advantages of dental implants are they eliminate bone loss caused by tooth loss, provide support for dental crowns, improve speech and chewing function, and maintain healthy gums.
With dental implants, you’ll be able to chew just like you did before your teeth were lost or damaged. They do require daily care, just like natural teeth do, but they can help maintain the health of your jawbone so you don’t lose bone density or halt future facial growth. They look, feel, and work just like a natural tooth.
At D&R Dentistry, we offer a number of different tooth replacement treatment options to help our patients regain their confidence and improve the overall quality of their life. Dental implants can provide a permanent solution, they are the modern alternative to tooth loss. No one looks forward to losing teeth, but the truth is that dental implants offer a variety of benefits over other tooth replacement options.
Besides, dental implants are a safe, effective way to replace missing teeth. They allow you to eat and speak normally without having to worry about your denture slipping or slipping out. Our highly-professional dentists have the skill, experience, and training necessary to place dental implants that look and feel natural in your mouth. Receiving a dental implant is a big decision. It’s important that you have all the information and support you need in order to make an informed choice. With our help, you can make an educated decision on how to improve your dental health via dental implants.
First things first: A CBCT scan
A CBCT scan will be necessary to evaluate your jawbone structure and teeth. This will allow us to determine whether you have enough jawbone mass to support an implant or if your process needs to begin with the placement of a bone graft to strengthen your jawbone and stimulate bone growth.
What to expect during the procedure
Once your jaw has been prepped, the surgical procedure begins during which we place the anchor. The healing process during which osseointegration occurs with the jawbone fusing around the implant anchor can take several months. After the implant is placed, we will fit the patient with a temporary crown and begin healing. Then, when the healing process finishes, we place the abutment and then the crown, which can be permanent or temporary.
